This is simply speculation, but my first month on Medium I earned a similar amount, just over $100 dollars.

Since then, I’ve yet to come close… that was over 5 years ago.

My guess is that Medium might spike earnings for new comers to spark curiosity and drive them to continue using the platform. Purely speculation, but I wouldn’t blame them, it’s a very smart, effective tactic.
