Does This Change The Way We Read?

Reading on Medium is always changing. I’ve talked about the tight-knit community closely following Medium and how their rules work. As of late May, you can can expect a “different” look when browsing Medium via mobile / tablet.

Here’s what I see:

If you look closely, you’ll see there are actually pictures in there — Screenshot on iOS iPad as of 5/25/2018

You can clearly see the deemphasis of graphics.

What does matter?

Titles, clappers, and article openers. You’ll notice, my “previews” are not great. You may also notice, I make use of original artwork, i.e. blog graphics and digital drawings. They are supposed to enhance my article.

Basically, photos are just less necessary in this Medium landscape.

Is that safe to say?
