I feel like this makes so much sense. Making videos is incredibly time-consuming considering the mix of not enough skills + desire to make good content + creative perfectionism; it makes for a slow process with not enough pay off.
I think the “views” statistic on YouTube is really deceiving in that 1,000 is a huge number on some platforms. For instance, 1,000 likes on a tweet is a lot. 1,000 snapchats from your friends is a lot. 1,000 shares on Facebook is a lot.
1,000 views on You rube is nothing — however, the number is still enticing.
