I’m Now A (Concerned) Member

I’m on here everyday, I might as well make the most of it.

I gave in and finally became a Member of Medium. I paid my 5 bucks (I know it’s a subscription) and I’m ready to get official.

I must say though

Becoming a Member is actually quite underwhelming. I thought joining would boost my overall experience on this platform in a big way. I was expecting a noticeable change. To be honest, I’m not really noticing a difference.

Sigh.

I’ve put off joining for a few months now and, given my recent boost in engagement, I thought I was ready to take the next step. I may have jumped the gun a little.

My first Member story posted and…

It was a big, fat flop. I really expected to get more interaction and engagement. I thought I was making the right move.

I hear all kinds of great things about Medium’s algorithm system. I was under the assumption that Medium would help get my “premium” story out to the eyes of others. I was expecting a warm welcome. Clearly, not the case.

And I did all the right things! I followed the guidelines, added an original image I created myself, and it’s a well-thought out piece. I don’t know where I went wrong…

First day probs

Ugh. I know it’s only been a day. ONE day. I was just very excited about this. I almost wanted to publicly ask if I was missing something; if I’d made a mistake in posting my Member-only story.

But, I realize the harsh reality: no one’s doing any favors.

Keep on keepin’ on

I obviously need to continue to build. I have to keep growing my network. I need to give people awesome content and reciprocate engagement with others.

All great things take time.

My 30 Day challenge is still on. This is Day 12. Almost half-way.
