Today, I Lost

The 30 Day Challenge won this time around.

It’s the 18th Day and I’m taking a loss. A big, fat ‘L.’

Noticing a trend

The ideal time to post on Medium is in the AM. That’s when everyone’s having their morning coffee and exploring new reads.

I understand this, but I usually start my daily post in the morning. Sometimes it’s finished in 20–45 minutes and it works out perfect.

Today, I had a longer post. It’s a bigger idea that needs more expansion, more reviewing, and more editing. More time!

I put twice the amount of effort in today and still couldn’t finish. I couldn’t stop tweaking, adding, and removing parts. Eventually, class and other responsibilities got in the way.

I never got to post what I started at 10 AM today.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda

I could have posted what I wrote. I could of rushed. I could have cut corners.

But, I chose not to.

It doesn’t feel right to post something structurally flawed and only 80% complete. I don’t want this “writing challenge” to drown out my content. Most of all, I don’t want to waste a good topic.

(Posting close to midnight is a great way to waste a Medium post)

I failed today, so I’ve resorted to this. A “dud” post. I’m salvaging what I can for the day.

I’ll do better

I’ve got to make some adjustments. It makes sense to give myself an entire day to write; to prepare a post the night before and have one ready to go.

I’ve got a winner for you tomorrow. Tonight, all I’ve got is this.

Bored, uneducated, homeless — em dashes are my specialty. I write what I see, think, and feel. That’s it.
